10 years ago:

I was 15 and it was the summer after 9th grade.  I was hanging out with my friends Amber and Nicole all the time.  I am pretty sure that was the summer we went to the Backstreet Boys concert.  We were obsessed with them, and we had such a great time.

5 years ago:

Dave and I got married.  We lived in AF in an old, and kind of run down apartment.  Luckily, we only lived there for about 8 months.  

5 months ago:

Dave and I were in Hawaii with Dave's family. We were gone for 10 days, and we left Conner with my sisters and my mom.   I was 6 months pregnant with Vika.  Sadly, we forgot to take pictures of ourselves.  I did however, take this picture of Dave and Steve in the ocean.  I was standing on our balcony(that is how close we were to the ocean).  We stayed in a rental house in the city of Laie.  We were only a couple of miles away from the Polynesian Cultural Center, BYU Hawaii, and the Hawaiian Temple.

5 things on my to do list:
1. Buy and install blinds
2. Work on the basement
3. Get sprinklers fixed
4. Build Conner's armoire
5. Finish main floor bathroom

Conner's New Friend

Last night we went to a BBQ at our old bishop's house, and Conner instantly fell in love with his youngest daughter Beth. 

 They were jumping on the couch, but stopped because apparently they both like to pose for the camera.

The second the picture snapped Beth decided to pull this crazy face.  What a silly girl.
Conner and Beth had fun playing outside on the swings, and playing in Beth's room.  At one point Conner was in Beth's bed trying to take a nap, but Beth got mad at him and made him get out.  She didn't like that he was going to go to sleep when she wanted to play.  

We watched a little bit of the Lakers vs. Celtics game, and Conner and Beth were screaming at the TV.  Conner was booing the Lakers, and cheering the Celtics on.  He had lots of fun.

Indiana Jones

Conner loves Indiana Jones and loves to try to sing the theme song.  When he was first introduced to it he called it Johnson.  It was the funniest thing because all he would say was, "Johnson" and no one had any idea what he was talking about.  

For Father's Day we gave Dave a musical Indiana Jones card.  He walked around the house with it all day long.  He seriously thought it was his card.

Father's Day

In honor of Father's Day I would like to recognize a very special man.  His name is Ed Armstrong.  From the second I started dating Dave in 2002 he treated me like I was part of the family, and like his 3rd daughter.  

He helped Dave and I a lot when we first got married.  We could go to him with any question or problem and he always had a solution.  We depended on him for a lot of things including financial advice, becoming home owners, and just being there whenever we wanted to talk.  I loved going over to their house just to hang out and talk.  We would all just sit around the living room (Dave's parents and sisters) and talk and joke about nothing at all.  It was just fun to be together as a family.  

He always made it a point to say something really sweet to me when we got to their house.  He would say something along the lines of "there is my sweet Cheryl"  "There's that beautiful smile" and I am sure there were others, but I can't remember them.  He always made me feel welcome, and loved.  

Sadly, around the first part of June 2005 Ed collapsed at work, very unexpectedly.  He was rushed to the hospital where he remained for a couple of weeks.  The doctors tried pretty much everything to figure out what was going on with him, but the only thing they could really tell us was that he had infections.  He was about to come home when he got yet another infection in his body.  He was taken to the ICU, and gradually got worse and worse.  He passed away on June 17, 2005.  He is missed by all who knew and loved him.  He was well respected, and one of the greatest men I have ever known in my life.  He was a great father, bishop, friend, father-in-law, confidant, brother, and uncle.

One month after Ed died I found out that I was 6 months pregnant with Conner.  I know that it sounds crazy, but I believe that we weren't supposed to know about Conner until Ed met him first.  He had 3 months with him, and I am so grateful that Conner did have some time with his Grandpa.  I also believe that he prepared Vika for our family.  Yes he did have more time with Vika, but that doesn't mean it was less special.  

I loved this great man, and I am very proud to be an Armstrong.  There are many things that Dave has gotten from his Dad, and I have to say that the best thing he learned from him is how treat the women in his life.  Dave is very respectful, loving and caring for all women.  This is something that I know he will pass down to Conner.  Thank you Ed for all that you have taught your son, and grandson.  We miss you, and love you very much.  Happy Father's Day!

C- Cake or Pie: Pie, but it has to be homemade.  My favorites are Pumpkin, Apple, and the cream pies that Dave's Dad used to make.

F- Favorite color: Pink!!  I am passing my obsession with pink onto my daughter.

5 Years!!

Can you believe we have been married for 5 yrs? I have a hard time believing it myself sometimes. I do have to admit they have been the best five years of my life, so far. I don't have any complaints. I have a great husband who respects and loves me, even all of my flaws, and I have 2 wonderful and beautiful children. What more could I ask for?

I want to thank my husband for 5 really great years. Without him I wouldn't be the person I am today. Thank you Dave, I love you so much. And also thank you Conner and Vika for being great kids, and picking us! We love you both!

Baby Vika's Blessing!

On Sunday we blessed Baby Vika!  We are very lucky to have such wonderful friends and family that are so supportive.  Thank you to everyone that was able to be there, and those that wanted to be there, but were unable.  

As you can see she looked beautiful in the Armstrong Family blessing/christening gown.  Conner and Vika are the 5th generation to wear it.

I was planning on getting a picture with Conner, but he changed out of his Sunday clothes too fast and played outside.
